1. Manually upload images to Pinterest
Here is how to create custom PINs for both regular users and business accounts.
Make up a pin Mobile Apps (Android and iOS)
Step 1: Open the Pinterest app and tap the Saved tab at the bottom.
Step 2: Tap the plus sign at the top.
Step 3: Select Pin from the menu. You can tap Board to create a board first. But that is not necessary as it can also be done later.
Step 4: You will see the images available in the selected folder on your phoneTap the image to select it and tap Next. To change the folder, tap the folder name at the top. And if you want to add a new photo, use the camera icon.
Step 5: Give your Pin a title and write a meaningful description. You can even add a destination website (more on this screen below).
Step 6: Tap Create board to create a new board. Give it a recognizable name so that it is easily identifiable. By default, the boards are the public. So anything you add to it will be visible to everyone. To make it private, turn on the toggle next to Keep Board Secret.
You can even add contributors. This is useful for brands that need more people to manage their boards on Pinterest. Tap Create to save the Pin to this board.
Create a pin on the Pinterest website
Step 1: Open the home page of the Pinterest website and click the add icon in the lower right corner. Select Make it a pin.
Step 2: Drag the image on the pin creation screen to the desired place or click it to upload it from your computer.
Step 3: Add a relevant title and describe it in the given boxes. Click the box next to ‘Save’ to choose and create a new board.
Create a Pin on Pinterest Business Account
On the Pinterest app home screen, tap the Create icon at the bottom. Select Pin from the menu. The rest of the steps are the same as mentioned above for regular accounts.
Open Pinterest on the website home page and click on the Create Pin button present on the left. You can also use the red add pin icon in the top bar and select make it a pin.
The rest of the steps are the same as for regular users. However, the business account holder gets some extra benefits such as mail scheduling, cropping, ability to add text and logo. All this is possible with the pinbuilder feature
2. Create a pin from a link
Here is how to go for it.
Add pin from internet to Mobile Apps
Step 1: Follow steps 1-3 of it mobile apps as described above. Step 2: Tap the globe icon and enter the website URL for which you want to add a PIN. Tap Search button
Step 3: Pinterest will load and show you the available images. Select the image and click Next buttonYou can also select all available photos using Select All button
Step 4: Now choose an existing board or tap Create board to create a new board.
Add pin from internet to website
Step 1: Follow steps 1-2 of the web section to launch the pinbuilder screen. Step 2: Click Save from site button
Step 3: Enter the URL. Then press the small arrow next to the box to load the images.
Step 4: Select the image and click Add to pin button
Step 5: Enter the title and description and choose a board for your pin.
3. Create Pins using the browser Buttons
Instead of manually entering the website URL, the browser allows you to create a PIN directly from any website buttonsAvailable for Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge, all you need to do is on it button, and it will load all the images on the specific website. Importance of pin title and description
As you saw above, you will be asked to enter a title and description while creating a Pin. While both are optional, don’t leave them blank, especially if you have a business account on Pinterest. Everything you enter in title and description is searchable. So when you add relevant text, it will show up in the search results. For example, if you have a travel account on Pinterest, add words solo travel, unique travel spots, etc. would make sense. You need to know your target audience when using the keywords in title and description. Pinterest also supports hashtags, but they aren’t as powerful as on Instagram or other social networks.
Furthermore, Pinterest provides an option to direct traffic to an external link, such as your website, on the same screen where you need to enter the pin title and description. It is known by the name of Destination website. Click on Add button and enter the desired link. When someone clicks on your PIN, they will be taken to that website.
