The Fitbit Versa 4 experience relies heavily on fitness tracking, which we found to be both an asset and a drawback. On the other hand, as a Fitbit Premium member, the Versa 4 offers thorough sleep tracking, a Daily Readiness Score to measure recovery, meditation guidance, and motivational community challenges. It also supports 40 different workouts, tracks workouts automatically, and calculates steps very well. In the past, fitness trackers and bands had a distinctive look, characterized by basic, narrow screens and an overall compact form factor. However, larger screens on wearables are now preferred, and modern fitness-focused wearables are more akin to smartwatches. A square AMOLED screen adorns the front, a matte-finished aluminum casing, and a single button on the right side of the device. On the bottom are contacts for charging and an optical sensor for measuring heart rate and blood oxygen; the Fitbit Versa 4 also includes an altimeter, which the device uses to count the number of floors when climbing stairs. Unfortunately, the actual altitude data is not easily and directly accessible.
