How to Stream Games to a Second PC WITHOUT a Capture Card – Guide
Game streaming is all the rage these days. Whether you’re playing a highly loaded first-person shooter or a laid-back driving simulator, someone will be interested to see you do it. However, streaming and playing games on the same PC can strain system resources. So if you have an old PC lying around, why not use it to stream your game? What you need to stream games to a second PC
First, you need two computers – one for gaming and one for streaming. On both devices, you must have the following applications: a streaming software, preferably an application like OBS Studio, NDI tools to send your screenshot from one PC to another, and the NDI OBS plug-in, to make the application NDI work NOTE. You must also connect your computers to the same network so that streaming software can detect the source. While high-speed Wi-Fi works for reliable streaming, connecting the two devices via LAN is better. That way you can get the best possible connection quality, reducing latency and delay of your stream. And if you want to engage with your audience, your camera and the microphone must also be connected to your streaming PC. That way your gaming PC won’t have an additional load to process.
Settings Up Your PC for gaming
On the gaming PC, open the OBS Studio app. To minimize the use of system resources, do not add multiple scenes and fonts. Just add a source – the monitor you want to broadcast. To do this, go to the Sources window and click on the plus sign menu. Choose screenshot. In the new window, click Create new radio button and press OK. From the Display drop-down menu, choose the monitor you want to broadcast. After selecting the correct screen, press OK. You should see the app or game that is streaming in the PC’s OBS Studio app preview for games. Then you need to go to Tools > NDI Output Settings. In the NDI Output settings, select the Main Output checkbox. And in the main output name text box, write the name you want to call your gaming pc. Once this is done, press OK. To ensure game audio is captured, go to File > Settings > Audio. Under Global Audio Devices, click the Desktop Audio drop-down menu. If you are familiar with the sound source you are using, you can select it, but otherwise make sure it is set to default. Once set, you don’t need to do anything on the gaming PC. Capturing your game on your PC with streaming
After preparing your PC for gaming, it’s time to define up your streaming computer. To do this, open OBS Studio and, in the Fonts window, click the plus sign. From the menu that opens, choose NDI Source. A Create / Select Font window will then appear. up. No pop-up window, click Create new radio button. The default name is NDI Source, although you can choose a different title for your game computer’s stream. Also, make sure the Make font visible check box is selected. You need to interact with them by showing your face and chatting live about the game you are playing. Whatever your goal, allowing your audience to see and hear you as you play will significantly benefit your broadcast. To do this, go back to the Sources window and from the plus sign menu, click Video Capture Device. The Create / Select Source window will appear again. Click Create new radio button, so give your camera a name. Again, make sure the Make font visible checkbox is selected and press OK. In the Properties window for ‘Video Capture Device’, go to the Device drop-down menu. Choose the camera which you will use for your stream and press OK. You should see your cameraThe display appears in the preview section of your streaming PC. Resize and move it so it doesn’t block anything important in your stream. Finally, to add an audio source to your stream, repeat the same process. Go to the Sources window, click on the plus sign menu, but this time, choose Audio Input Capture. Create / Select Source will open once more. Click Create new radio button and name your microphone and press OK. In the Properties window for ‘Audio Input Capture’, click on the Device drop-down menu, choose your computer’s microphone and press OK.
Checking your configuration
To ensure your audience hears your broadcast – both the game and your voice – take a look at the Audio Mixer. Try playing a sample song on your gaming PC, then check the NDI source (or whatever name you’ve given the gaming PC stream) in the Audio Mixer. It should be moving with the intensity of your audio sound. Do the same with Audio Input Capture to check the microphone. Once you are sure you have reliable audio, you can click Start streaming. While OBS Studio is active, you will see the Broadcast Status in the lower right corner. Here you’ll see your stream’s performance, such as the number of frames lost, how long you’ve been live, the CPU resources your stream uses, your frame rate and bandwidth.
