Apple’s Move to iOS app makes it easier than ever to transfer your pictures, contacts, calendars and accounts from your old Android phone or tablet for your new iPhone or iPad. Apple’s first Android app, it connects your old Android and new Apple device via direct Wi-Fi and transfers all your information. Although the Move to iOS program transmits a lot of your data, it doesn’t move your apps, music, or any of your passwords (as they are incompatible). Also, only the data from an Android phone or tablet can be transferred to an iPhone or iPad running iOS 9 or higher. After entering the code, the Android smartphone will establish a peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connection with your iPhone or iPad and select which data will be shared. It will ask you if you want to transfer your Google Account information (so you can quickly sign in to your new Apple device), Chrome bookmarks, text messages, contacts, and your camera roll of photos and videos. Make a list of everything you want to transfer. Your Android phone or tablet will send the selected data to your iPhone or iPad, where it will be placed in the appropriate apps. The two devices will be disconnected and Android will advise you to take the old device to an Apple Store for free recycling. When the transfer is complete, click Continue Setup Up iPhone or continue setup Up iPad on your device to continue creating a new Apple ID or logging into an existing one. You will be prompted to check in accounts moved from your old Android device after completing the setup procedure. After that, you are ready to go! The time the transfer process takes varies depending on how much data you’re transferring – especially if you’re storing a lot of photos and videos. We transferred about 400MB of files and it took about 8 minutes from start to setup up our iPhone to enter account passwords.
