Epson WorkForce WF-3540
the control panel features a 3.5-inch contextually illuminated touch LCD buttons on the panel around you. The menu structure is quite easy to navigate – much easier to use than its WorkForce WF-2540 cousin we reviewed recently. Paper handling on the WorkForce WF-3540 is top notch. In addition to two bottom-mounted 250-sheet paper cassettes, there is a single-sheet rear feed for photo paper, envelopes and the like. The WorkForce WF-3540 output is quite pleasant. Color graphics printed on plain paper have reasonably good color accuracy. Images printed on glossy photo paper, while a little gloss is as good as anything you’ll see this side of a dedicated photo printer. Text is crisp and black, and even draft-mode documents are easily readable. Scans tended to be dark, although copies did not suffer from this problem. Buy now
HP Office Jet 8022
The HP OfficeJet 8022 is an inkjet printer, but rather than being geared towards printing occasional photos and documents, it’s geared towards busy small office environments. the OfficeJet 8022 is simple and practical, but it doesn’t skimp on the features. It can print and scan at resolutions of up to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi, it features a generous 225-sheet paper tray and a 35-sheet automatic document feeder for copying multi-page documents. The print quality isn’t as good as consumer inkjet printers can produce, but it’s not bad for an office printer. Photo prints look reasonable, with the printer producing a good balance of dark and light and representing colors with reasonable accuracy. Buy now
Epson EcoTank ET-2720
The Epson EcoTank ET-2720 is an inkjet printer suitable for a wide range of uses. It uses a supertank cartridge system with four refillable ink tanks instead of traditional ink cartridges. Thanks to this system, the printer has excellent yields per page and an exceptionally low cost per print, regardless of whether you print in black and white or color. Unfortunately, while it has a high resolution flatbed, it doesn’t have an automatic document feeder, so you have to manually flatbed every page of a document, which can be time consuming. Also, its photo quality is decent enough to add graphics to tasks or reports, but the colors are very inaccurate, so it’s not suitable if you’re looking for accurate color reproduction. Buy now
Epson EcoTank ET-3760
The Epson EcoTank ET-3760 is ideal. Its high page yield for black and white and color documents, as well as the comparatively low cost of ink refills, should keep prices low. It’s not as fast as some other office models at printing black-only text documents, but it’s still good enough. This features an automatic document feeder, but no duplex scanning, so dealing with a lot of double-sided documents can be a headache. It also cannot send and receive faxes. A retractable automatic document feeder is located above it. This allows you to scan a stack of documents in one batch. It worked well with crisp, flat sheets in my tests, but not so well with double-feed documents that were creased, resulting in some pages not being scanned. Buy now
HP OfficeJet Pro 9015
This small screen is functional, some of the icons are a little small to comfortably touch or slide. The good news is that almost everything you can configure, monitor, or run from the control panel is also accessible through the HP Embedded Web Server (shown below), which comes loaded in the firmware of most of the company’s printers. You can also generate reports to assess usage and calculate ink and paper costs. Speaking of paper, the 9015 holds 250 sheets, as does the WF-4720, while the TR8520 holds up for 200 sheets, and the MFC-J995DW holds just 101 sheets, split between a 100-sheet cassette and a one-sheet replacement tray. Canon TS6420
The Canon PIXMA TS6420 is decent for family use. The photos look great, with a nice overall tone. The cost per print of color documents is very low, helping to keep you on budget. Unfortunately, the cost per print of black text documents is mediocre. Also, there is only a flatbed scanner and the accuracy of the colors produced is not remarkable. The page yield is low, which means you’ll have to change cartridges frequently, and the cost per print is mediocre at best. Prints at low speed and there is no automatic document feeder. On the bright side, it is compatible with XL size cartridges and supports automatic duplex printing. Buy now
Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4830
The main of the WF-4830 feature is a fast, high-performance duplex (two-sided) printer for high-volume printing. The 50-sheet Automatic Document Feeder makes scanning pages very easy. Using state-of-the-art PrecisionCore Heat-Free technology and vivid DURABrite Ultra inks, it delivers professional-quality prints at a speed of 25 black/12 color pages per minute. The WF-4830 also has a status screen that shows your ink levels, which is very convenient. Equally convenient is the touchscreen control panel tilts for easy reading in any lighting condition. This indicates how crisply and clearly a printer has produced black text on a variety of faces, sizes, and styles. Models with higher scores produce smoother typefaces, with sharper edges and smoother curves. Buy now
Canon MAXIFY GX7020
The GX7020 does not lack features any. Connection options include Ethernet, USB, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct. When connecting it to your network via Ethernet, Wi-Fi Direct is disabled, but you can still print via Wi-Fi from a phone or tablet that is on the same network. Context up the GX7020 is generally straightforward, despite a small quirk in the software installation. At 28.6 pounds and only 12.4 x 16.2 x 15.8 inches (HWD), the printer is light enough that most people can get around without assistance. That doesn’t apply to its direct competitors other than the GX6020, which is a few inches shorter (since there’s only one paper drawer) and weighs a few pounds less. Buy now
Canon PIXMA G4210
Canon Pixma G4210 is a wireless all-in-one printer. It comes with a super tank, which means it has an extra-large ink tank for those who are tired of changing their ink cartridges often. It is suitable for work from home, small offices or when you are working in groups. If you’ve used any Canon printer in the past, you can easily tell the difference. The Canon Pixma G4210 offers multiple connectivity options. You will be able to connect through Wi-Fi, you can use USB to connect directly to the computer and the best part is Ethernet. Buy now
Canon MAXIFY iB4150
The front panel folds down to reveal the four ink cartridges in its holder; for replacement, cartridges slide in easily. There is only one cartridge capacity available, which is supposed to yield 2,500 pages in black and between 1,295 and 1,755 in color. These capabilities are of the same order as small laser printers, but result in much lower operating costs, particularly when printing in color. Canon claims 23ppm monochrome print speeds and 15ppm color print speeds. It also claims a time to first page of just 7 seconds. However, in our real-world tests, we were unable to do this. While we saw a print start of about 7 seconds, it was 10 seconds or more before the printer finished printing a single sheet. A five-page monochrome text print took 22 seconds, giving a speed of 13.6 ppm. Buy now
